"Wabi-Sabi" ... beauty in everyday things.
My pictures show better than any words I might use, how I hope to
communicte that art is a ultimately a healing process leading us
toward a world where we feel connected to
each other, one which treasures cultural diversity and tolerance.
Artistic expression can point the way to a holistic worldview. We
can never have enough laughter! Laughter can heal.
Layers of paint or images, some lost, some
found and some always visible, present themes of history, nature,
often with visual or symbolic puns.
Small old things tell me
stories about the people who used to use them. Old junk, altered
photographs, digital layers, all show up in my art. I have always liked
to figure things out. How does it work? If the answer
is too complicated, I've found that whimsical imagry suits me
fine.
History, Medicine, and Nursing and show
up frequently in my work.
Coastal Carolina with with its overwhelming
beauty makes my heart sing. I paint outside frequently.
